This report comes to you from Mozambique where currently Randy Clark and his Global Awakening ministry team is here for two weeks of intense ministry to pastors, their children, the homeless and the lost. Just six months ago this country, twice the size the state of California, experienced torrential rains fueled by three successive cyclones that crippled the entire nation in which hundreds of people perished and set this already struggling country back for decades.Upon our arrival in the capital, Maputo, we set up camp with Iris Ministries which is headed up by Rolland and Heidi Baker. They are missionaries who pour their lives into the orphanage they founded that houses over three hundred children, and the pastors' school which trains pastors for three months, 20-30 pastors at a time. They come from the 200+ churches that have been planted by them in the last few years. Our stops included the cities of Beira and Chimoio. North of Maputo, I didn't find any bitterness, hopelessness, or anger among the Christians which would probably come from some of us 'comfy Christians' if we lived in and had to encounter the conditions that they have to face every day of their lives. Instead I encountered a very humble, broken, and hungry for more of God kind of people, who are experiencing revival. The kind we desire to experience in other parts of the world. Many pastors have been traveling with us from other parts of Mozambique some of whom have planted as many as 80 churches, while others have raised the dead. As a whole they average 10 new churches a week.At our first stop in Beira, we met in their best facility. It was an arena which by most standards would be condemned. The 1500 men, women, and children who traveled countless hours to attend, and who sat, ate, and slept on the broken floor in the dimly lit arena, not fit for human use, displayed a thirst and hunger for God through their exuberant worship and response to Randy's messages and invitations. The Holy Spirit was so faithful and powerful at those meetings. Many were saved, delivered from possession, and healed of different physical problems. They might have previously gone to a witch doctor for a cure, only to find that Jesus Christ is the great physician who is filled with compassion and healing power.
We left Beira believing what was imparted by the Holy Spirit to the believers will have a life changing effect throughout the region for Jesus' sake.We next visited the city of Chimoio. The Sunday evening meeting wasn't your everyday kind of session. A witch doctor and his wife, both dirty and disheveled, followed us from Beira. They participated in the worship that took place at the end of the meeting, with the witch doctor playing his guitar to the song being sung.Pastor Stephen Lai, from California, was standing near them and felt the Holy Spirit tell him to lay hands on them and pray for the witch doctor's wife. Pastor Lai didn't know she was mute. She was healed instantly and able to talk. The couple then was prayed for where they repented for their sins and practice of witchcraft and accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior. They didn't argue or attempt to debate us but because of the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit humbly came to Christ. They removed any articles on them that had anything to do with witchcraft, including the guitar. After the service it was all burned right outside the meeting hall. The next day they came to the morning session and were taken by some pastors to purchase new clothing. When they came back from the meeting they looked like entirely new people from the inside out. It was a prophetic example of what these meetings have been all about. Impartation leading to transformation, and power of the Spirit which leads to new and victorious life in Jesus.
