MOBILE,
AL-- The vision of Editor Jerrell Miller
when he started The Remnant was to build the
supernatural story of God and build it
around the personal testimony of individuals
who have seen God's face. On November 7th,
1993 the first edition was published.
The lead testimony on the first publication
was about a young boy who was called
by the audible by the voice of God in his
Junior High School class in Columbus,
Georgia. Later that young man along
with 17 other men was in an all night prayer
meeting they witnessed two large angels
visit for five hours in the back of a
church. The young man we wrote about was
Pastor John Kilpatrick of the Brownsville
Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida.
After that testimony was published John
Kilpatrick spoke a word that was heard by
the intercessors of the church, "I long
for the God of my childhood." For
two years Pastor John Kilpatrick ended the
Sunday night service and turned it into a
prayer meeting. Standards with flags
were erected in the sanctuary where people
walked and prayed for schools, revival,
pastors, the country, the family and several
other burdens. It was on June 18th,
1995 that Evangelist Steve Hill came to the
Brownsville Assembly of God and during that
service the power of God flowed. No one at
the time felt that this would be a major
revival but what happened on that Sunday
would not go away. Manifestations of
the Holy Spirit began to happen and it began
to be extended by weeks and months and after
the first year those who were in charge of
that move of God knew they had something
special. During the early days of the
revival The Remnant covered it locally and
fed the fire. The entire range and
scope of the revival changed the night that
a New York Times reporter came, the
following week the revival was placed on the
front page of the New York Times and from
that moment on it became and international
revival. CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN came to
interview the leaders of the revival.
During the third year the internationals
begin to show up from all over the
world. Each night more than 29
different nationalities could be counted and
interpreters were set up in the balcony so
the different countries could understand
what was being said. The Remnant
became the printed record and only record of
the revival since its start. We grew
as a small publication during this time
period as Editor Jerrell Miller traveled the
world to chronicle the events of
revival. Pastor John Kilpatrick
allowed The Remnant Newspaper to be official
record of this event through all seven years
of this event. Today The Remnant is in
several countries and every state in the
union. Miller still travels from
Africa to Europe to get the true story of
revival.
