Extreme Passion

MOBILE, AL -- Bill and Cheryl Gray are modern day heros in the local church. There work is one of the newest revelations of revival that works because it goes to where the need is and doesn’t expect a return What ever they have done for the last fifteen years of work has built a new vision for desperate children who would have no chance if they had not been on the seen with their sidewalk Sunday School outreach.

On Sunday December 6 he stood before his pastor to give him honor, you see if there hadn’t been a Pastor Turner to dream with Bill there would probably be no Metro Ministry in Mobile, today. These days when you want to do something that God has spoken to you in your heart, you need the advice of someone who cares deeply about you, and Cecil Turner was that kind of a pastor in the early days of Metro Ministries. As Grey stood before his pastor, he gave him honor, he spoke about the vision of Metro Ministries in downtown Mobile and how his pastor (Very often called the Bishop of Mobile) walked with him to help establish Metro Ministries.

Bill and Cheryl are interested in people and if you could see the area where they minister you would say that this type of ministry is impossible. The Happy Hill area of downtown Mobile is a place where you would not chose to start your ministry. When I was a young man I sold insurance in this area of town. Every night you would hear about death and violence on the street in this community. I can remember my first death claim as an insturance agent in this part of town. I had to visit the small home of a young man who had just died of one of the first recorded cases of AIDs in Mobile. As I worked with the mother she told me of a young man who was a rare quanity in this area. This man was an honors student from High School and the University of South Alabama. He was a rare person to find in this area of town. I began to have more visits into this getto area of Mobile. The heartbreak of the mothers in this area is almost too much for a women to bear. This is an area where young people fall under the influence of drugs and drive by shootings. My friend this is the very area where Bill and Cheryl came to do ministry. On one outreach a local busniessman Mike Tillman rode with Bill Grey and saw the violence right up front as both were called to a sceen where a man had been shot. Mike Tillman was so deeply touched by this type of ministry that his wife and him found theirselves doing sidewalk Sunday School Ministry in the Roger Williams projects of Mobile. Roger Williams was another area where the light of the gospel hardly shines..Many people have come along side to help in this outreach and many have felt the power of the Holy Spirit overshadow them during these outreaches, it’s like no other type of ministry that you could ever experience unless you saw it up front for real. Scripture says, "Ye thou I walk through the showdow of death I will fear no evil." When you are where Bill and Cheryl minister you feel the shadow of death but you also sence the glory of God around you as you work. You can see this all through this book, Extreme Passion is that kind of book where you understand what God expects of His believing church. Today Mike Tillman the businessman is Mike Tillman the Missionary to South America, and it all began with that first ride with Bill Grey.

What makes a person want to do this type of ministry. The Mayor of Mobile knows what kind of ministry is in the Happy Hill area of Mobile. Here’s what he had to say about these two people, "Bill and Cheryl Gray are known for their tireless, selfless and devoted mission work in our inner city.

These are people with a tremendous vision. Today Bill is 54 years old, and he feels like his work is just beginning. Many of the kids who are in his program sang at Calvary Assembly of God on December 6, there were silent tears flowing as the children of Metro Ministries sang. What a gift of God Bill and Cheryl are. If you purchase this book you will not put it down. Every chapter is exciting, this is what Jesus would have done if he had come to Mobile, Alabama. It started 15 years ago with a pupet ministry in a deperate part of Mobile, AL. To Order Your Book send check or money order to Metro Ministries P.O.
